The Fort Meade Flying Activity (FMFA) is part of the National Security Agency's (NSA) Civilian Welfare Fund (CWF). It is located at Tipton Airport (KFME), adjacent to Fort George G. Meade, MD and is easily accessed from Route 32.
FMFA offers recreational flying opportunities for club members that are active or retired military, federal government employees, CAP, or have some type of government affiliation. Several club members are FAA Certified Flight Instructors and are permitted to instruct in club aircraft, offering professional training from Private to CFI.
The FMFA consists over 200 members enjoying the use of 8 aircraft, 3 T-41C's, 1 C-172P, 1 retractable gear Piper Arrow, and 3 C-152's. A comfortable double-wide trailer with offices and pilot facilities is located on the west end of the airport with the aircraft located ajacent on a well lighted secured concrete ramp area near the facility. The flight activity also maintains their own repair shop with full-time mechanicial and inspection operation.
The flight activity is open to members 24-7, with a computerized dispatch system
for professional tracking information and up-to-date pilot, weather, FAA and Flight service data available at all times.
